Warrior III (Virabhadrasana III) is a yoga pose that enhances balance and coordination by engaging the stabilizing muscles of the body.

Glossary: Virabhadrasana III

How to

  1. Begin in Tadasana (Mountain Pose) with feet hip-width apart.
  2. Shift your weight onto your left foot, rooting firmly into the ground.
  3. Inhale and lift your right leg straight back, hinging at the hips and keeping your body parallel to the ground.
  4. Extend your arms forward alongside your ears, palms facing each other, or place them in prayer position at your chest.
  5. Ensure your standing leg is strong and engaged, with the knee slightly bent to avoid locking.
  6. Keep your hips squared to the floor and your core engaged to maintain balance.
  7. Gaze softly at a point on the floor a few feet in front of you for stability.
  8. To exit, inhale and slowly rise back to Tadasana, bringing your right leg down to meet your left.
